CBI Crackdown on Real Estate Fraud: Raids Across 12 Locations in Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Pune Target Builders and Financial Officials
In a major nationwide crackdown targeting financial fraud and exploitation in the housing real estate sector, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted coordinated raids across 12 strategic locations spanning Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Pune. The high-profile search operations were initiated following the registration of five new criminal cases targeting prominent real estate builders alongside unidentified officials from various financial institutions. The federal agency's decisive action stems directly from directives issued by the Supreme Court, which intervened after numerous aggrieved homebuyers approached the highest court seeking urgent legal remedy against widespread fraudulent activities and project abandonment by developers.
Uncovering Collusion and Misappropriation in Ozone Group and Vivansha Projects
According to official disclosures from the investigative agency, four out of the five newly registered criminal cases directly involve ongoing residential and commercial projects managed by the Ozone Group and its associated corporate entities in Bengaluru and Mumbai. The fifth case pertains to the Vivansha Balsam project located in Bengaluru. Investigators are probing deep-seated criminal conspiracies involving criminal breach of trust, cheating, forgery, and official corruption. The primary focus of the probe centers on alleged illicit collusion between unscrupulous builders and corrupt officials within financial lending institutions, which enabled massive fund misappropriation, financial irregularities, and severe deception of innocent home buyers who had invested their life savings into these properties.
Seizure of Digital Evidence and Expansion of Nationwide Real Estate Probe
During the simultaneous search operations across the three metropolitan cities, CBI teams successfully recovered and seized a vast cache of incriminating documents, digital storage devices, electronic equipment, and financial ledgers pointing toward systematic corporate wrongdoing. These materials are currently undergoing forensic examination to strengthen the prosecution's case. With the addition of these five fresh FIRs, the federal investigating agency has now registered a total of 55 criminal cases against various fraudulent builders across India under specific Supreme Court mandates. The CBI has reiterated its unwavering commitment to conducting swift, transparent, and impartial investigations into economic offenses to fix strict legal accountability and deliver justice to cheated homebuyers nationwide.
