Bengaluru rain returns after 2-day break; showers set to intensify after September 3
New Delhi: Bengaluru saw heavy rain again on Sunday evening, after rainfall activity had remained subdued over the previous two days. Several parts of the city were hit by a sudden spell, bringing down temperatures down but causing brief waterlogging and slow-moving traffic in some areas.
The showers were reported in Mysore Road, Mattikere, Malleswaram, RT Nagar, Sanjay Nagar, Thanisandra, Kodigehalli, Vidyaranyapura, Bannerghatta Road, Begur, Koramangala, Marathahalli, Electronic City, Whitefield, Shantinagar and Dairy Circle, among other localities.
< span> As it was a Sunday, traffic movement was relatively low, preventing major congestion. However, the sudden evening rain disrupted plans for many people who had stepped out to enjoy the holiday.
Temperatures drop after rain
According to the Bengaluru weather centre, the city recorded a maximum temperature of 28.5 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 19.9 degrees Celsius on Sunday.
At the Bengaluru International Airport area, the maximum temperature was 28.6 degrees Celsius and the minimum was 18.8 degrees Celsius. Bengaluru’s HAL area recorded a maximum temperature of 29 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 18 degrees Celsius.
What is the forecast for the coming days?
The weather department has predicted cloudy skies across Bengaluru over the next three days. Winds may reach speeds of 30 to 40 kmph, while temperatures are likely to remain between 20 and 30 degrees Celsius.
Light to moderate rain is expected in different parts of the city during this period. Rainfall activity is likely to become more active again after September 3, according to the forecast.
Meanwhile, parts of coastal and Malnad Karnataka are expected to receive moderate to heavy rainfall over the next three days. Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada, Shivamogga and Chikkamagaluru are among the districts likely to see heavier showers.
The weather department said rainfall activity remains weak over north interior Karnataka, where higher temperatures are expected to continue. Residents in Bengaluru have been advised to remain prepared for sudden showers, particularly in the evening hours.
