Suspense crime, Digital Desk : Iran has launched a large-scale aerial assault on Israel, firing hundreds of explosive drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles in a significant and direct escalation of hostilities between the two regional adversaries. The attack marks Tehran's long-threatened retaliation for a suspected Israeli airstrike that killed top Iranian military commanders in Syria earlier this month.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the multi-pronged attack was underway, stating that its air defense systems were on high alert and working to intercept the projectiles. Air raid sirens blared across Israel as the first wave of drones, which take several hours to reach their targets, began to enter Israeli airspace.
Iranian attack drones, including Shahed variants, have been launched towards Israel, starting Iran's retaliatory strikes.

In a televised statement, IDF spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari warned the public to heed safety instructions and stay near bomb shelters. "This is a severe and dangerous escalation," he said, confirming that the attack involved dozens of drones launched directly from Iranian soil.
The retaliatory strike, which Iran has named "Operation True Promise," is a direct response to an April 1 airstrike on an Iranian consulate building in Damascus, Syria. That attack killed several senior members of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), including two of its top generals. Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, had publicly vowed that Israel "must be punished and will be punished."
The international community is watching with grave concern. In Washington, President Joe Biden cut short a weekend trip to meet with his national security team at the White House, reaffirming the United States' "ironclad" commitment to Israel's security.
This direct, state-to-state attack from Iranian territory is a major development in the long-running shadow war between the two nations, pushing the volatile Middle East region closer to a wider conflict.
