Suspense crime, Digital Desk : In a significant development amid ongoing efforts to restore peace in Manipur, police in the Churachandpur district have arrested four suspected members of an inter-state arms trafficking ring. The operation is being seen as a major breakthrough in the crackdown on the illegal flow of weapons that has fueled the region's year-long ethnic conflict.

The arrests were the result of a targeted joint operation conducted by the Churachandpur district police and women police personnel. Acting on reliable intelligence, the team raided a house in Gangpimual village where the suspects were gathered.

During the raid, authorities seized a 9mm pistol along with a magazine and five live rounds of ammunition. Additionally, four mobile phones and a Maruti Brezza car, believed to be used by the gang for their operations, were also confiscated. The mobile phones are considered crucial evidence that will help investigators trace the full extent of the criminal network.

The four arrested individuals have been identified as Mang Goukham Thang, Joseph Lalnunmawia Vaiphei, Lhaogoulen Haokip, and Lhunkhomang, also known as "Mang."

A formal case has been registered, and a thorough investigation is now underway. Police are focused on uncovering the source of the illegal weapons and identifying other members of the syndicate. This successful operation marks a critical step in the authorities' mission to curb violence and bring stability back to the state.
