Mad Square, the much-anticipated sequel to the 2023 Telugu hit Mad, released in theatres today, March 28. Starring Narne Nithiin in the lead, the film is being met with mixed reactions from moviegoers and netizens.

Directed by Kalyan Shankar and produced by Sithara Entertainments, Mad Square continues the story with most of the original cast reprising their roles. It features performances by Sangeeth Shobhan, Priyanka Jawalkar, Ram Nitin, Vishnu Oi, Subhalekha Sudhakar, and Satyam Rajesh.

Audience Reactions Range from Praises to Mild Criticism

Early viewers who caught the first day first show (FDFS) took to social media to share their impressions. One user tweeted, “MAD Square has a good first half,” using the hashtag #MADSquare.

Another reviewer from the Telugu entertainment portal TollywoodRulz gave the film a 3 out of 5 rating, commenting: “#MADSquare is a lighthearted comedy entertainer with a crisp runtime, delivering fun moments despite some forced sequences.”

While some praised the film's humor and performances, especially highlighting “Laddu’s role and the songs,” others felt it didn’t match the freshness or punch of the original. One comment read: “Just an okay watch… #MadSquare offers a few laughs. Didn’t live up to expectations.”

A surprise cameo by Pawan Kalyan also caught fans’ attention, with several users expressing delight over his brief appearance.
