LUST STORIES 2 REVIEW: ‘CRINGE’ STORYLINES IN THE SEQUAL RUINS THE HYPE

Lust Stories 2, which is the sequel of the Lust Stories released on Netflix on 29th June, it is a multi-starrer and multi-directed movie which comprises of four different stories by different directors into one and is related to lust and bodily desires. Similarly, in 2020 ‘Ghost Stories’ was released which was directed by Karan Johar, Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Banerjee and Anurag Kashyap.

Review: Unlike its first part released in 2018, the sequel has not been able to create the hype the original movie created. The first story directed by R. Balki starred Neena Gupta, Mrunal Thakur and Angad Bedi. It revolves around the importance of sexual compatibility after marriage and also about the taboo of talking about it openly. Second story was directed by Konkona Sen Sharma which starred Amruta Subhash and Tillotama Shome. This story is all about the female lust and desires and also about the desire and feeling of being wanted in a woman. The third story included Vijay Veema and Tamannah Bhatia in the lead and directed by Sujoy Ghosh. This story’s main motto was to depict how people can behave in a certain way and are open to cross boundaries when it comes to lust. Lastly, the fourth story included Kajol as the main lead, who was the victim of domestic abuse and how her technique of harming her husband went wrong and Kumud Mishra as her husband and the assaulter. It was directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma. Overall, it was a great effort in representing various versions of lust. However, it didn’t reach the audience’s expectations as the storylines were mildly ‘cringe’ and sometimes made no sense. The last story, which was directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma was the only story which is quite hooking but the sudden turns and twists made it rather irrelevant and it absolutely made no sense. If people are still curious as to what went wrong in the movie, they can go ahead and give it a watch.
