Lt Gen KJS Dhillon (Retd), former General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Indian Army’s 15 Corps, mourned the recent Pahalgam terror incident in Jammu and Kashmir, claiming this was an attempt to disrupt the Indian diplomatic activities in the international arena.
In his defense, Dhillon pronounced the attack alongside visits from the US vice president to India and Narendra Modi to Saudi Arabia, stating it served to purposefully escalate concerns internationally amidst these diplomatic events.
“The Valley has been seeing signs of peace and development. This attack seeks to reverse that progress,” 'he’ said Dhillon, claiming that the point of focus was the sending of messages regarding stability in Kashmir being highly volatile.
Lt Gen Dhillon, who holds sound theories, proved accusations claiming of Planning executed by military structures of Pakistan achieving desirable objectives incomparable with known fraudulent groups alleged by TRF. “This is not the work of a standard terrorist group or a proxy like TRF. The planning and execution point directly to Pakistan’s military,” he reiterated.
Describing it as part of a longer-term effort by Pakistan to destabilize the region, he labeled the incident as an expression of “deep-state terrorism.” He issued a call for a more forceful stance from India stating that “It is the Pakistan Army that we must aim at because that is where it will hurt them the most.”
The retired general maintains that India has the ability needed to execute a counter-action to such an occurrence which in his opinion is bound to happen. “Pakistan continues to stay the principal driving force of terrorism in our country. We possess the means to counter them effectively,” he continued.
He also noted that the normalization in the restive region of Kashmir has been satisfactory. “We were reaching a phase of consolidation in counter-terror operations, but the final stretch is always the most difficult. There may be fewer terrorists but they are more difficult to find.”
Ld Gen Dhillon’s remarks highlight the predicament that while there might be some visible forms of peace on the surface, there are certainly threats that must be taken care of even while they remain concealed.
