The multi-talented Louis Tomlinson from England graced Indian shores for the first time during the third Lollapalooza India music festival, where he claimed was a “mind-blowing and incredible” experience. This spectacular debut was appreciated and revered by Indian audiences, thereby solidifying Tomlinson's title as an ‘International pop sensation.’
On the festival's second day, Tomlinson appeared promptly at 7 PM, introducing himself with an equally explosive performance. “My name is Louis Tomlinson, and this is my fu***** incredible band,” he said. After such a tone-setting opening, his further steps on stage were simply electrifying.
Further sharing his experience at the event, the 33-year-old clarified, “Never in a million fu***** years did I ever think I’d be in India when I was a young lad.” And indeed he performed further reasoning, “It’s mind-blowing man, I can’t get my head around it. I love you.”
Louis Tomlinson's fans waited at Mahalaxmi Racecourse in South Mumbai for him to arrive. While the number of fans this time was lesser than the first day of the fest, it can be understood because of the ICC Champions Trophy final between India and New Zealand. The singer further jested, saying, “Thanks for showing up. At first, it was a little confusing. I saw a few people, and, for a second, I thought no one came.” Either way, he did appreciate the audience for showing up.
“Thanks a lot. I know you all are going to enjoy this one,” he said as he prepared to perform Drag Me Down, leaving the crowd going wild at the prospect of him singing one of his popular songs.
He blended old and new beats as the audience enjoyed his performance, at one moment singing classics from One Direction, where Louis sang: Where Do Broken Hearts Go and Night Changes, after which he moved to his more recent music: Written All Over Your Face, Out of System, Saturdays, Back To You Now, and We Made It. The well Known Britsh boy band One Direction includes Louis and Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, and the late Liam Payne.
“Everywhere I travel, I enjoy incredible recognition. And this is a collaborative experience; no, a collective effort and […] you give me a lot of faith, so thanks, my dears. You are wonderful. This will remain etched in my brain forever. India, thank you for everything,” he said.
Wrapped with emotions near the end of the concert, Louis Tomlinson gave a note of intent declaration that he wanted to capture the extraordinary moment both bodily and mentally with the audience and fellow band members Insightfully, he took a pause after thinking back on his multi-national tours and the robust support he has received over the years. "I want to remember this moment," he cared to remember the special night.
The Lollapalooza India day two performers list was astounding featuring, singer Lisa Mishra, singer and song writer Raghav Meattle, Sitar Maestro Niladri Kumar, rapper duo Raftaar x KR$NA, Hanumankind, rock band Nothing But Thieves, and DJ John Summit.
Tomlinson now forms part of the Zayn, Harry, Niall, and Liam Payne unit called One Direction, which has been on hiatus from March 2016 while they each relaunch their separate careers.
