Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra has posted a new parody video targeting Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, intensifying an ongoing political dispute. The video, set to the tune of Hawa Hawai, accuses the BJP of authoritarianism and criticizes the government’s tax policies affecting the middle class.
In the parody lyrics, Kamra accuses the finance minister of burdening the salaried middle class, singing:
"Logon ki lootne kamaai, sari waali didi aayi, salary churaane yeh hai aayi, middle class dabaane yeh hai aayi..."

Kamra’s 'Traitor' Remark and Police Summons
Kamra's latest satire comes amid a legal controversy. He was recently served a second summons by Mumbai Police after referring to Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde as a "traitor" during a performance at Habitat Studio, Mumbai. Authorities rejected his request to delay the appearance by a week.
During the same act, he referenced Shinde’s 2022 political rebellion using lines from a Hindi movie song, drawing parallels between the rebellion and betrayal.
Response to Vandalism and Political Reaction
Following the incident, Shiv Sena supporters reportedly vandalized the performance venue and burned Kamra’s effigies. In response, Kamra shared a video montage that included the protest visuals accompanied by a parody of the song Hum Honge Kangal, with satirical lyrics criticizing blind faith and governance.
Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis demanded an apology for what he termed "low-level comedy." Kamra condemned the vandalism but made it clear he would not apologize.
