New Delhi: The Indian Medical Association has declared a shutdown in all big and small hospitals nationwide on 17th August. Giving information about this, IMA i.e. Indian Medical Association’s national president RV Ashokan said that the doctors will be on strike for 24 hours. He said that the strike would start at 6 am on Saturday and would continue till 6 am the next day. During this time emergency services will remain operational but other services including OPD will remain closed. Let us tell you that doctors across the country are angry about the rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata’s R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital and in this sequence, they will be on strike on Saturday.
‘I am waiting for the CBI investigation report’
Ashokan said that the girl with whom this incident happened was the only child of a middle-class family. He said, ‘This incident was not carried out by a single person, but many people were involved in it. I do not have words to describe the way she was murdered. This is a crime against humanity. This is related to the issue of the safety of women in the workplace. Doctors and nurses are worried that they are not safe in the hospital, and their family members are also worried. I am waiting for the CBI investigation report.’
At least 30 names are on the CBI’s radar
Let us tell you that on August 9, the body of a female trainee doctor was found under mysterious circumstances in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College. The female doctor was raped and murdered. She was a PG second-year medical student in the hospital and was also working as a house staff. Meanwhile, the parents of the deceased told the CBI, which is investigating the case, that some interns and doctors of the same college may be involved in this crime. A CBI official said that we have focused on at least 30 names, whom we will call for questioning. He said that we have also started questioning them.
