Khushi Kapoor, who recently appeared in the romantic comedy Nadaaniyan alongside Ibrahim Ali Khan, has shared her growing interest in exploring thriller and horror roles in the future. While discussing her career aspirations in a recent interview, she expressed her curiosity about taking on roles that challenge her emotionally, specifically within the thriller and horror genres.
Khushi Kapoor on Exploring Darker Roles
In a conversation with Grazia India, Khushi Kapoor mentioned that while she isn't seeking entirely horror roles, she would like to explore films with a slightly darker tone than what she has done so far. She shared, "I’ve always been curious to see what the process of a thriller-horror movie would look like; maybe not completely horror but something a bit darker than the movies I’ve done so far. It would be interesting to explore a slightly darker film. I like doing dramatic and emotional scenes, so I think it would be interesting to do a film that was heavier on those kinds of notes."
Her desire to challenge herself in darker films shows her willingness to step out of her comfort zone and pursue emotionally demanding roles that could showcase her versatility as an actress.
Nadaaniyan and the Backlash
Khushi's most recent project, Nadaaniyan, has received mixed reviews from both critics and audiences. The film, a romantic comedy, has not met expectations, and Khushi, along with her co-star Ibrahim Ali Khan, has faced harsh criticism regarding their performances. Despite the lukewarm reception, Khushi remains confident in her abilities and continues to look forward to diverse roles that will challenge her as an actress.
Support from Karan Johar and Industry Figures
Amid the online trolling and backlash, Karan Johar, a close industry figure, stepped in to offer his support. At the trailer launch of his upcoming film Akaal on March 18, Johar addressed the criticism of Nadaaniyan and defended the newcomers, Khushi and Ibrahim. He provided words of encouragement for the duo, emphasizing the importance of resilience in the face of criticism. Johar's comments serve as a reminder of the challenges newcomers face and the need for industry support.
A Community of Support
Despite the criticism, several celebrities and fans have rallied behind Khushi and Ibrahim, praising their performances and encouraging them to continue pursuing their careers. Their journey in the film industry, though challenging, is seen as just the beginning, with many hopeful that they will overcome the initial hurdles and thrive in their careers.
