Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati has made a sensational claim of a substantial amount of gold, worth crores, missing from the Kedarnath Dham in Uttarakhand. His claim comes amid the protest over building a Kedarnath Temple in Delhi. Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati is one of the four Shankaracharyas and lives in Jyotir Math in Uttarakhand. Now, reacting to his claim, the temple management authority has challenged him to present proof of his allegation.
Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati claimed that 228 kg of gold is missing from Kedarnath Dham in Uttarakhand. He said it was a big scam, which has gone unnoticed. “As much as 228 kg gold is missing from Kedarnath. No inquiry has been initiated. A gold scam has been carried out in Kedarnath, but the issue is not being raised. Now, they are saying that they will build Kedarnath in Delhi. This is to effect another scam,” he said.
How Has Kedarnath Temple Authority Reacted?
Shri Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee President Ajendra Ajay said that the Shankaracharya should present evidence in this case. He said that Swami Avimukteshwaranand had made creating controversies a habit.
Ajendra Ajay said that it was “miserable” that a claim of gold missing from Kedarnath Dham has been made. He requested Shankaracharya to present the evidence to support his claim. Ajendra Ajay said, “I respect Swami Avimukteshwaranand but he addresses press conferences all day long. Swami Avimukteshwaranand has a habit of creating controversies and spreading sensation to remain in public discourse.”
According to news agency ANI, the temple committee chairman said, ” His statement on gold missing in Kedarnath Dham is very unfortunate. I urge and challenge him to bring facts and evidence to light. He should go to authorities, present then the evidence and demand an investigation. If he doesn’t trust a capable authority, he should approach the Supreme Court and high court, file a PIL, and demand an investigation if he has evidence. Otherwise, he doesn’t have the right to stoke an unnecessary controversy and harm the dignity of Kedarnath…If he is working to advance a Congress agenda, it is miserable…”
