Spiritual Significance

Other yantras sacred to Hinduism are also located at the mountain. Performing parikrama (movement around an object) coupled with a douse in the Manasarovar is a very popular pilgrimage ritual.

Cultural and Diplomatic Importance

Not only does the revival signify religious beliefs, it also showcases the spirit of Indian culture. It is an effort to reposition India within it's unyielding borders while simultaneously reclaiming its routes of tourism and yatra. Jointly managed pilgrimages, like this yatra, demonstrate how cooperation with China can be strategically sensible from a regional policy standpoint.
