U-DISE Plus Code and PAN Number Now Mandatory for Student Registration to Curb Exam Fraud

In a major administrative overhaul aimed at bringing absolute transparency, eliminating proxy entries, and curbing fraudulent practices, the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) has announced strict new registration norms. Starting with the board examinations scheduled for 2027, student registration will no longer be processed without providing a valid institutional U-DISE Plus code and a student Permanent Education Number (PAN). The sweeping directive applies uniformly across all board assessments, including Matriculation (Class 10), Intermediate (Class 12), Madhyama (Sanskrit), and Madrasa board examinations across the state.

Strict Directives Issued by Education Department to District Officers

Acting upon explicit instructions issued by Uma Shankar Singh, Secretary of the School Education and Literacy Department, the JAC secretary dispatched formal compliance letters to all District Education Officers (DEOs) across Jharkhand. In Dhanbad, DEO Abhishek Jha promptly cascaded the directive to all Block Education Extension Officers (BEEOs) and local school administrators. Educational institutions currently lacking a valid U-DISE code have been issued an ultimatum to immediately contact the Jharkhand Education Project Council to regularize their credentials. Furthermore, schools have been sternly warned to secure student PAN numbers before the upcoming September 30 deadline to ensure seamless registration approval.

Curbing Fraudulent Registrations and Streamlining National Databases

The primary objective behind this rigorous digital mandate is to eradicate malpractices such as duplicate form submissions, multiple enrolments from different institutions, and the inclusion of ineligible candidates. By linking every student to a unified digital identity, the state government aims to build an organized, tamper-proof database. This centralized tracking system will enable authorities to accurately calculate vital educational metrics, including annual dropout rates, gross and net enrollment ratios, and student retention rates across both general and minority educational institutions.

Unified Academic Calendar for General, Sanskrit, and Madrasa Schools

In addition to tightening registration protocols, the School Education Department has enforced synchronization across the academic calendar. To prevent procedural delays and ensure timely declaration of results, board examinations for conventional schools, Sanskrit Madhyama, and Madrasa streams (Wastania, Foqania, Maulvi) will henceforth be conducted simultaneously within the stipulated academic session, safeguarding the academic future of lakhs of students across Jharkhand.
