Empowering rural girl students with modern communication skills, a special English teaching and learning program is being launched across Kasturba Gandhi Girls Residential Schools and Jharkhand Residential Schools in the Chatra district. Spearheaded on the proactive initiative of Deputy Commissioner Ravi Anand, the primary objective of this visionary educational drive is to dramatically improve the English speaking, listening, reading, and writing proficiency of students. Administrative authorities believe that bridging the language gap will better prepare these young women from remote blocks—including Sadar, Hunterganj, Pratappur, Kunda, Lawalaung, Tandwa, Simaria, Pathalgada, Gidhaur, and Itkhori—for higher education, competitive examinations, and future career opportunities while significantly boosting their overall self-confidence.
Comprehensive Training Plan, Baseline Surveys, and DMFT Funding Set for 1-Year Curriculum
To ensure maximum effectiveness, the one-year program will begin with a thorough baseline survey and proficiency test to assess the current language levels of students at Kasturba Vidyalayas, tailoring the training plan accordingly. Rather than focusing strictly on rote memorization of grammar rules and vocabulary, the curriculum emphasizes interactive, dialogue-based activities designed to encourage students to converse fluently in English during their daily lives. Funded through the District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMFT) with an allocated budget of approximately ₹3,000 per student, the initiative will be regularly monitored and assessed to implement necessary improvements. This landmark administrative step is set to pave the way for holistic educational and personality development across residential schools in Chatra.
