Sealdah Rajdhani Engine Breakdown Strands Trains on Dhanbad-Gaya Route
Rail commuters traveling along the busy New Delhi-Howrah trunk route experienced significant travel delays after a sudden technical malfunction crippled the engine of the prestigious Sealdah Rajdhani Express. The unexpected breakdown left the high-priority train stranded for an extended duration on the critical tracks between Gaya and Dhanbad. The cascading effect of the stranded engine immediately bottlenecked rail traffic on the corridor, forcing the trailing New Delhi-Howrah Rajdhani Express to come to a sudden halt on the tracks. Passengers onboard both elite trains expressed deep frustration and inconvenience as the technical disruption threw morning timetables completely off gear before railway technical teams intervened to restore locomotive functionality.
Timetable Disruptions and Restoration Details: Examining Arrival Delays at Dhanbad and Terminal Stations
Following emergency repair work on the locomotive of the Sealdah Rajdhani Express, normal train operations were progressively resumed along the route. However, the momentary paralysis resulted in notable schedule slippages for both major services. The New Delhi-Howrah Rajdhani Express suffered a 33-minute delay upon reaching Dhanbad at 7:11 a.m. instead of its scheduled arrival time of 6:38 a.m., ultimately rolling into Howrah terminal approximately one hour behind schedule. Concurrently, the New Delhi-Sealdah Rajdhani Express recorded a similar 33-minute lag at Dhanbad—arriving at 6:56 a.m. against its slated 6:23 a.m. slot—and completed its journey to Sealdah with an hour's delay. Railway authorities noted that rapid troubleshooting prevented a more prolonged crisis on the heavily congested Dhanbad-Gaya section.
