Rail commuters traveling across Jharkhand, Bihar, and West Bengal face major travel disruptions as the South Eastern Railway has announced widespread train cancellations and short terminations due to essential rolling block maintenance works in the Adra Railway Division. Scheduled to take place between August 31 and September 9, 2026, the engineering blocks will result in the total cancellation of 8 train services, while 10 other trains will operate with short originations and short terminations.
The railway administration has urged passengers planning journeys during this period to verify their train schedules beforehand via official ticketing apps, railway websites, or the 139 helpline to avoid inconvenience.
Complete Train Cancellations Across Specified Dates
The engineering and maintenance works require the complete cancellation of several vital MEMU services across multiple dates:
Adra - Asansol - Adra MEMU (68046/68045): Cancelled on August 31, September 2, and September 6.
Asansol - Purulia - Asansol MEMU (63594/63593): Cancelled on August 31, September 3, September 4, and September 6.
Adra - Medinipur - Adra MEMU (68090/68089): Cancelled on September 1, September 4, and September 6.
Adra - Bhaga - Adra MEMU (68077/68078): Cancelled on September 6.
Services Operating with Short Origination and Short Termination
To accommodate ongoing track maintenance while maintaining partial connectivity, the operational paths of 10 trains have been curtailed:
Chakradharpur - Gomoh - Chakradharpur Express (18116/18115): Will run only up to Mahuda on September 1, 4, and 6; remaining cancelled between Mahuda and Gomoh in both directions.
Tatanagar - Asansol MEMU (68056): Will terminate at Adra on September 4 and 6, staying cancelled between Adra and Asansol.
Asansol - Barabhum MEMU (68060): Will originate from Adra on September 4 and 6, remaining cancelled between Asansol and Adra.
Asansol - Purulia - Asansol MEMU (63594/63593): Will run up to Adra on September 1, 2, and 5, staying cancelled between Adra and Purulia.
Kharagpur - Hatia - Kharagpur MEMU Express (18035/18036): Will be short-terminated at Adra on September 1, 2, and 5, remaining cancelled between Adra and Hatia.
Tatanagar - Asansol - Tatanagar MEMU (68056/68055): Will operate only up to Adra on August 31, September 3, and September 5, staying cancelled between Adra and Tatanagar.
