Bokaro Steel Plant Prepares for New Recruitment as 29 Employees Retire This Month

The Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) is undergoing a significant transition in its workforce this month as a total of 29 plant personnel—comprising 6 officers and 23 regular employees—reach their retirement milestone. With seasoned professionals stepping down, the plant is proactively introducing new recruitment measures to ensure seamless operational continuity and maintain a healthy manpower balance.
Senior Officers Among This Month's Retirees
The retirement list includes several key leadership figures across major departments within the plant. Among the officers retiring this month are:
Arvind Kumar, Chief General Manager (Services)
Harsh Nigam, Chief General Manager (Material Management)
Manish Jalota, Chief General Manager (Business Excellence)
Anil Kumar, General Manager (Traffic Department)
Surendra Singh Yadav, Assistant General Manager (Hot Strip Mill)
Manoj Mallick, Assistant Manager (R&C Lab)
The departure of these senior officials alongside 23 other staff members places a temporary workload adjustment challenge on the remaining workforce.
Management Trainees and New Doctors Onboarded
To offset the reduction in permanent personnel and bridge the staffing gap, the SAIL management has focused on continuous recruitment. Approximately a dozen new management trainees joined BSL this month and are currently undergoing intensive departmental training across various plant facilities.
Additionally, to strengthen healthcare delivery, the plant management is finalizing the recruitment of several new contract doctors for Bokaro General Hospital (BGH) and hospitals under the Jharkhand Group of Mines. This selection process is nearing completion, with the newly appointed medical professionals expected to take charge by next month.
