Suspense crime, Digital Desk : A senior commander in Iran's powerful Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has issued a direct and cryptic warning to the United States, declaring "We are ready" amidst a sharp escalation in tensions between the two adversaries.
The terse message from Major General Gholamali Rashid, a high-ranking IRGC commander, was delivered in direct response to recent threats from Washington. US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan had stated that the United States would respond "decisively" if Iran proceeds with plans to provide Russia with ballistic missiles for its ongoing war in Ukraine.
This public war of words comes at a time of heightened military posturing in the volatile Middle East. The United States has maintained a significant naval presence in the region, including the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower aircraft carrier strike group, as a show of force and deterrence against Iran and its regional proxies.
The latest flashpoint centers on intelligence suggesting that Tehran, which has already supplied Moscow with attack drones, is preparing to also send short-range ballistic missiles. This would provide a significant boost to Russia's military campaign and represents a red line for the US and its allies.
