Suspense crime, Digital Desk : India has successfully launched "Operation Sindhu," a large-scale evacuation mission to bring back its citizens from Iran amid the escalating conflict in the region. The first special flight, operated by Air India Express, landed in Mumbai on Friday, safely bringing home 517 Indian nationals.

The evacuation was meticulously coordinated by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in response to the deteriorating security situation in Iran. The Indian embassy in Tehran has been working around the clock, setting up 24/7 helplines and facilitating a registration drive to identify and assist all Indians wishing to return.

The first group of evacuees includes students, professionals, and families who were stranded in the conflict-ridden country. The government has confirmed that this is just the beginning of the operation, with more flights scheduled in the coming days to ensure every Indian national seeking to leave is brought back safely.

In an official statement, MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi reiterated India's commitment to the safety and well-being of its citizens abroad. "Operation Sindhu is underway, and we are making all possible efforts to assist our nationals in Iran," he said.

This mission follows a long tradition of India conducting major non-combatant evacuation operations (NEOs) during global crises, including "Operation Ganga" from Ukraine and "Operation Kaveri" from Sudan, showcasing the country's capability and commitment to protecting its diaspora.
