The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the Indian women’s cricket team squad for the upcoming Tri-Nation ODI series to be held in Sri Lanka, featuring the hosts and South Africa. The series begins on April 27, with the final scheduled for May 11.
Key Highlights of the Squad Announcement
Harmanpreet Kaur returns to captain the side after being rested for the Ireland series.
Smriti Mandhana continues as vice-captain.
Shafali Verma remains out of the squad.
Injured pacers Renuka Singh Thakur, Titas Sadhu, and Pooja Vastrakar are not included.
New Inclusions: Kashvee Gautam Headlines Debutants
The most eye-catching inclusion is Kashvee Gautam, who earned her first national call-up following an impressive showing in the WPL 2025, where she took 11 wickets—joint-highest among Indian bowlers alongside Shikha Pandey. Known for her pace bowling and lower-order power hitting, Gautam adds depth to the squad.
Other new names include:
N Shree Charani – left-arm spinner.
Shuchi Upadhyay – Player of the Tournament at the 2024 Senior Women’s One-Day Trophy.
Tournament Format
Each team will play four matches, with the top two teams qualifying for the final. The series will serve as a key platform for players ahead of upcoming international fixtures.
