To mark a historic milestone celebrating 25 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's exemplary public life, the Haryana government is launching a massive statewide initiative titled the 'Aashirwad Ka Diya' (Blessing Lamp) campaign. Scheduled to run as part of the broader Seva Sankalp Abhiyan from September 17 to October 17, this unique drive aims to fill homes with the warm glow of traditional earthen lamps while directly revitalizing the traditional livelihoods of local potters. Rather than relying on commercial mass-market suppliers, the state administration has mandated that all ceremonial diyas be procured directly from local potters across every district, giving a timely and much-needed push to grassroots artisans ahead of the festive season.
Empowering Antyodaya Families With Free Earthen Lamps
In alignment with the state's welfare objectives, the initiative ensures that underprivileged households share directly in the celebrations. On September 17, coinciding with Prime Minister Modi's birthday, two free earthen lamps will be distributed to every Antyodaya ration cardholder family across Haryana. According to official directives issued by the Directorate of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs following approval from Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and Minister of State Rajesh Nagar, the state has earmarked a massive distribution of 79,52,546 free diyas covering all 39,76,273 registered ration card families. Hisar district is set to receive the highest allocation, with over 5.76 lakh lamps distributed locally.
Transparent Procurement and Strict Quality Guidelines for Districts
To ensure the campaign achieves its intended socio-economic impact, the Food and Supplies Department has issued comprehensive instructions to district food and supply controllers. Officials have been directed to complete procurement swiftly, maintain strict quality and size standards, and ensure that purchasing is distributed among as many local potter families as possible to maximize economic benefits. Furthermore, district administrations are tasked with maintaining complete transparency, keeping meticulous records, and monitoring timely doorstep delivery to beneficiaries. By blending cultural tradition with local economic empowerment, the Haryana government's 'Aashirwad Ka Diya' initiative sends a powerful message of 'vocal for local,' ensuring that the ceremonial lights of September 17 illuminate both homes and the futures of traditional artisans.
