The decision paves the way for Dharavi Redevelopment Project Pvt Ltd (DRPPL), a joint venture spearheaded by the Adani Group, to move ahead with the monumental urban renewal initiative.
The master plan, submitted by DRPPL, outlines the comprehensive strategy for redeveloping the sprawling Dharavi area. This includes the construction of new housing for eligible residents, development of modern infrastructure, and the creation of commercial and social amenities. The approval signifies the government's acceptance of the proposed layout, building designs, and phasing of the project.
This development is a major milestone for a project that has been discussed and delayed for decades. The Adani Group secured the rights to redevelop Dharavi after a competitive bidding process.
