Google keeps issuing warnings for smartphone users. Users’ smartphones can be controlled through some apps installed on the phone and their bank accounts can be hacked. These days smartphones are not used only for making phone calls. Smartphones are being used for chatting, business meetings, banking, etc. In such a situation, if your smartphone gets hacked, you may have to suffer huge losses.
These apps are breaking into your phone
Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, had claimed that hackers could break into users’ bank accounts with the help of editing apps present in smartphones. In its report, Meta mentioned many such editing apps, which were not secure and were available on the Google Play Store. Most of these were photo editing apps, which are used to enhance photos. Many users have downloaded these apps for social media uploads, which can prove to be very harmful.
Talking about these photo editing apps, 16 of these apps originate in China. The government has also banned hundreds of Chinese apps in India since 2020. There are dozens of apps like BeautyPlus- Easy Photo Editor, BeautyCam, Selfie Camera- Beauty Camera & Photo Editor, B612- Beauty & Filter, and Sweet Snap-on Google Play Store, which have millions of downloads.
Delete it from your phone immediately
Google also released a similar report, in which it was warned that there is a risk of sending malware to the phone through these photo editing apps. These apps are very harmful to users. However, Google took action and blocked these apps from the Play Store. However, many users unknowingly downloaded these apps on their smartphones. In such a situation, they should immediately delete these apps from their phones.
Keep these things in mind while installing the app
Security agencies also keep issuing such warnings frequently keeping in mind the safety of the users. In such a situation, some things should be kept in mind while installing any app on the phone.
- If you are also installing a new app on your phone, then first of all you should check the reliability of that app. Most of the genuine apps are verified by Google Play.
- However, many apps bypass Google Play’s security and appear genuine. In such a situation, users should avoid giving full access to any app installed on the phone.
- Do not give any permission to the apps on the device unless it is necessary. By doing this, it will be difficult for hackers to break into the smartphone.
