Ghaziabad: Kaushambi police station of Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh has arrested 8 people including 5 girls while exposing the fraud happening in the name of meeting girls through dating apps. According to the information given by the police, the accused used to call people to the cafe through dating apps to meet girls and used to charge more than the bill for food items. When the customer refused to pay the bill, they used to hold him hostage and demand money. After receiving a complaint in this case, the police arrested 8 people including 5 girls.
‘He was held hostage for not paying the bill’
According to the information given by the police, a man named Vikas Gupta, a resident of Dayalpur, Delhi had complained on Tuesday that an attempt was made to extort more money from him than the price of food items in the name of calling girls to meet through a dating app. He alleged that when he did not pay the bill, he was held hostage, and money was demanded. Taking action on the complaint, Kaushambi police arrested 3 youths named Khalid alias Imran, a resident of Sahibabad, Nadeem, a resident of Shastri Park, Delhi, and Sumit, a resident of Kalyanpuri, Delhi, and 5 girls.
The accused revealed the whole story during interrogation.
On being interrogated by the police, the arrested accused and the owner of the cafe said that they used to call boys to their cafe in the name of meeting by chatting with the girls working in their cafe through dating apps. If any boy came to the cafe, then they would give the bill by adding 5 to 6 times the price of the item ordered by him. During interrogation, the accused said that if the bill money was not paid, they would hold the boy hostage and demand money. After Dayalpur resident Vikas Gupta complained to the police, this entire fraud was exposed and the accused were arrested.
