Suspense crime, Digital Desk : New Delhi, India – The recent shocking attack on a tourist couple in Pahalgam was not an isolated act of violence but the culmination of a year-long militant movement across Jammu and Kashmir, according to recent security reports. Investigators have traced the perpetrators to a group of foreign terrorists who established a deadly trail from the Pir Panjal region into the Kashmir Valley.

The attack, which left a couple from Jaipur injured, is now being viewed as a desperate attempt by this militant group to signal their arrival and disrupt the peace in the Valley.

According to intelligence assessments, the trail of this terror cell began over a year ago. The militants are believed to have infiltrated from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) into the dense, forested areas of Poonch and Rajouri in the Pir Panjal range. For months, they used this rugged terrain to establish bases and carry out ambushes on security forces.

However, intensified and relentless anti-terror operations by the Indian Army and J&K Police in the Pir Panjal region have put immense pressure on these groups. Faced with a shrinking operational space, the militants were forced to make a strategic shift.

Their new objective was to cross the Pir Panjal mountains, likely using the Mughal Road corridor, and enter South Kashmir. The goal was twofold: to escape the security dragnet in Poonch-Rajouri and to re-ignite militancy in the Kashmir Valley, which has seen a significant decline in violence and a resurgence in tourism.

The attack in Pahalgam, located in the Anantnag district of South Kashmir, confirms that this group successfully managed the crossing. Security forces believe the militants are now attempting to establish new hideouts in the forests of South Kashmir, posing a renewed threat to both civilians and security personnel.

In response, security forces have been placed on high alert across the region. A massive, coordinated combing and search operation is underway to track down this specific group before they can carry out further attacks and destabilize the fragile peace in the Valley.
