Fraudulent activity allegedly took place in the possession of Congress Rajya Sabha MP Digvijaya Singh, specifically within the boundaries of the district of Ambedkarnagar in Uttar Pradesh. According to officials, the MP's land was illegally sold by a scammer.
As of now, the case appears to be quite complex. The case came into the open when caretaker Anil Yadav saw on a Friday that certain people were digging and performing constructions on this land. In response, he quickly mobilized and went to lodge complaints to sub divisional magistrate, police, and district magistrate.
The land in contention with the plot number 1335 K is around the village of Ramnagar Mahuwar in Alapur tehsil. Singh, the former chief minister, has his name claimed on this land. Besides that, the land was also claimed by Singh’s mother, who passed away in 1986.
Due to the lack of proper records available on the caregivers part, he was forced to register the land under his name after applying for inheritance. The land was then further appended to the claimant list of MP Singh's name after his death in 1986 which happened on May 18 2024, according to Yadav. From what the caretaker mentioned to the police and tehsil administration, a particular Ram Harak Chauhan appears to have snagged the land.
The family of the buyers started development on the property on Friday which leads us to the current situation. As of now, the tehsil administration has put a halt to the construction work and started an inquiry into the land records. An Alapur tehsil official confirmed that the land was still registered under Singh’s name. Tehsil sources said the three people had “purchased” the land through a sale deed but its mutation was not done in revenue records.
They claimed that he altered the ownership by way of a mutation, a legal process of record change.
