Ranya Rao Arrested for Gold Smuggling: In the mystery of smuggling gold and jeweler, the intelligence department arrested a kannada film actress at the international airport, Bengaluru. Officials noted that 14.8 kg of gold was retrieved. Ranya, who came from Dubai, was caught with 14 kg of gold bars tied to her belt along with 800 grams of gold earrings. Speculations are that the actress is supposedly the Daughter to Director General of Police of Police Housing Corporation Ramachandra Rao.
Actress in judicial custody for 14 days
Ranya Rao returns from Dubai on Monday night via emirate flight. She was suspected by the agencies because this was her fourth visit to Dubai in 15 days. She was closely monitored at the Bengaluru airport and much to the officer's surprise, a lot of gold was found on her person. After her arrest, Ranya Rao was presented at the Economic Offences Court from where she was placed in judicial custody for 14 days.
Probe into Connections with Police Officers
Ranya, as reported, claimed that once she arrived at the airport, she already claimed to be the daughter of the Director General of Police (DGP) of Karnataka. Subsequently, she got in touch with the local policemen and requested for police escort till the journey was completed. Nowadays, authorities are trying to find out if any police officer, particularly her IPS cousin, had known about this or they were indeed duped.
DGP’s Father Passed The Buck Responsibility As Reported by the TOI, the moment Karnataka DGP K Ramachandra Rao was reached out on the matter, he said he was not in touch on what his daughter did. He claimed Ranya has not visited her parents since the wedding. He further claimed that he did not know what business Ranya and her husband were into. He stated, his daughter has disgraced him, and in the event that any laws are broken, action would be dealt. *Was There A Single Instance Of Smuggling?* DRI officials are also inquiring if Ranya Rao was operating independently or was part of an much larger multinational smuggling ring between Dubai and India. For now, the investigations on record remain unsolved and attempts are being made to establish who Ranya’s associates were and who all took a part in her smuggling. Other than this, Ranya Rao starred alongside South Indian superstar, Sudeep in the film Manikya back in 2014, and since then she has starred in a few other south Indian movies.
