Unleashing complete pandemonium across cinema halls worldwide, Superstar Rajinikanth has once again proven his unmatched box office supremacy as his high-octane action drama Jailer 2 delivered a monstrous opening on Friday, October 16, 2026. Released across five languages—Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam—the much-anticipated sequel stormed multiplexes and single screens alike, generating massive cash inflows from its very first early-morning shows. Navigating intense box office competition against holdovers like Drishyam 3 and Dhurandhar 2, the Rajinikanth-starrer collected an astonishing net figure of ₹60 crore at the domestic Indian box office, catapulting its worldwide first-day gross into triple-digit territory.
Domestic Territory Breakdown: Tamil and Telugu Belts Drive ₹60 Crore Net Total
Industry tracking portal Sacnilk confirms that the film's regional core propelled its massive opening haul across India:
Tamil Nadu Stronghold: Benefiting from fervent fan celebrations and sold-out prime-time shows across Tamil Nadu, the Tamil version led the domestic tally by amassing an extraordinary ₹43.35 crore net on Day 1.
Massive Telugu Response: The Telugu-dubbed version registered packed houses in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, adding an impressive ₹12.50 crore net to the overall domestic tally.
Hindi and Regional Circuit Numbers: The Hindi-dubbed version collected a steady ₹3.50 crore net across northern circuits, while the Kannada market contributed ₹35 lakh (₹3.5 million), with additional support flowing in from Malayalam screens.
Drishyam 3 Comparison: While Jailer 2 posted phenomenal domestic numbers across multiple regional versions, its overall domestic opening day fell just short of eclipsing the all-time single-day domestic record previously set by Drishyam 3.
Global Box Office Storm: ₹125.55 Crore Worldwide Haul With ₹55 Crore Overseas Power
The film's international theatrical run delivered numbers that cemented Rajinikanth's overseas pull:
Massive Global Debut: Factoring in robust domestic ticket sales alongside massive overseas distribution, Jailer 2 locked in an eye-popping ₹125.55 crore worldwide gross on its opening day.
Dominating International Markets: Contributing heavily to the worldwide tally, overseas circuits alone generated ₹55 crore gross, with exceptional turnouts recorded across the United States, United Kingdom, Singapore, Malaysia, and the Gulf belt.
Beating Rival Releases Overseas: In foreign territories, the film outperformed both Drishyam 3 and Dhurandhar 2, establishing one of the strongest opening-day international footprints ever seen for an Indian production.
Shattering Major Benchmarks: Toppling GOAT, Jana Nayagan, and Kamal Haasan's Vikram
With its massive Day 1 collections, Jailer 2 has rewritten several contemporary box office milestones:
Overtaking Thalapathy Vijay's Blockbusters: Rajinikanth's latest action spectacle officially surpassed the opening-day domestic and global marks set by two of Thalapathy Vijay's biggest releases—The Greatest of All Time (GOAT) and Jana Nayagan.
Surpassing Vikram's Record: The sequel also decisively eclipsed the opening-day performance of Kamal Haasan's blockbuster Vikram, setting a new high-water mark for Tamil action cinema.
Weekend Momentum: With family audiences stepping in for Saturday and Sunday shows and trade analysts forecasting packed houses through the extended weekend, Jailer 2 is positioned to race past the ₹300 crore global milestone in record time.
