Suspense crime, Digital Desk : Pakistan launched their T20 International series against Bangladesh with a commanding performance, securing a comprehensive victory by 7 wickets with 18 balls to spare in the first encounter. A disciplined bowling effort followed by a clinical batting display, spearheaded by a blistering half-century from opener Mohammad Rizwan, saw the hosts take a 1-0 lead in the series.
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Bangladesh struggled to build momentum against a potent Pakistani attack. Early wickets tumbled, and despite a fighting knock of 45 from Litton Das and a late cameo from Mahmudullah (30 off 15 balls), they were restricted to a modest total of 145 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs. Shaheen Afridi was the pick of the Pakistani bowlers, claiming 3 wickets for 22 runs, while Shadab Khan chipped in with an economical 2 for 18.
In reply, Pakistan's chase got off to a flying start. Mohammad Rizwan was in imperious form, smashing 78 not out from just 45 deliveries, an innings laced with powerful drives and deft touches. Captain Babar Azam contributed a solid 35, ensuring there were no major hiccups. Though Bangladesh managed to pick up a few wickets, Pakistan's batsmen always looked in control, comfortably reaching the target of 146 in the 17th over, finishing on 148 for 3.
Mohammad Rizwan was deservedly named Player of the Match for his match-winning innings. Bangladesh will now look to regroup and level the series in the next encounter, while Pakistan will be buoyed by this strong start.
