Disney+ K-Drama Knock Off Faces Uncertainty Amid Kim Soo Hyun Controversy:

The future of Disney+ K-drama Knock Off featuring Kim Soo Hyun was set into a limbo after controversy embroiling the lead actor surfaced. Recent allegations concerning his supposed relationship with the late actress Kim Sae Ron has stirred some debate which has raised the level of concern from sponsors and the outcome of the drama remains uncertain.

Even with the escalating controversy, Disney+ has remained defensive and claimed up until now that the production schedule has not changed. Initially, the streaming giant was claiming that the filming is on schedule and that the series would be released during the first half of 2025. There was also a production announcement event scheduled for next month. However, recent reports by K-media claim that this scandal has put a question mark on the drama’s future which has led to rumors of the show being postponed or even cancelled.

As per OSEN information, Disney+ has reiterated that there is “no special changes” to the production and have confirmed that the filming is in fact taking place. But, due to growing concern from sponsors and public debate, the uncertainty regarding Knock Off's continues deepening.

Knockoff’s controversy involving Kim Soo Hyun continues to grow, which is making some of the project’s sponsors, like Safety Zone Korea, rethink their support of it. Park Ki-pyo, the company’s CEO, expressed their worries about the situation.

“Us working with Knock Off was because of their youthful and innovative approach to marketing their brand. The brand however was unprepared for the controversy’s fallout, which threated their involvement. Safety Zone Korea will determine what steps to take following Disney+’s clarification on the drama’s position,” Park noted.

While all of this is happening, the leading actor starring in the film continues to face controversy for reportedly dating kim sae Ron while she was underage. His agency, Gold Medalist, claims that the rising actress only started dating the agency’s client, which means the agency’s client straightened where she turned eighteen. While this has been denied, it does raise plenty of questions, considering how gleeful the public seems to be toward placing them under tough scrutiny.
