Suspense crime, Digital Desk : In a significant move to combat Delhi's chronic traffic gridlock and alarming pollution levels, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government is putting several major infrastructure projects on the fast track. Finance Minister Atishi announced that the development of new Metro lines and crucial road corridors is now a top priority, with progress being monitored closely to ensure swift completion.
Following a high-level review meeting with senior officials from the Public Works Department (PWD) and the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), Atishi emphasized the government's commitment to providing a "world-class transport network" for the city's residents.
The ambitious plan aims to overhaul the city's transport infrastructure by focusing on two key areas: expanding public transit and decongesting critical roadways. The projects being expedited include:
Delhi Metro's Phase-IV Expansion: Three major corridors are being accelerated:
- Janakpuri West to RK Ashram
- Majlis Park to Maujpur
- Aerocity to Tughlakabad
New Road Corridors:
- A six-lane elevated road from the Punjabi Bagh flyover to the Raja Garden flyover.
- A double-decker flyover, combining a Metro line and a road, from Yamuna Vihar to Maujpur.
The government believes that by aggressively pushing these projects forward, it can significantly reduce travel times for commuters, encourage a shift from private vehicles to public transport, and subsequently cut down on vehicular emissions. This dual strategy of improving both road and rail infrastructure is seen as essential for making Delhi a more livable and sustainable megacity.
"These projects are a top priority for the Kejriwal government," Atishi stated, underscoring the urgency of the initiative. The goal is clear: to ease the daily struggles of millions and create a cleaner, less congested future for the national capital.
