Suspense crime, Digital Desk : Former Union Aviation Minister Praful Patel has publicly called out Singapore Airlines, questioning its "deafening silence" following a serious incident involving one of its cargo planes at Ahmedabad's Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on May 8.
In a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), Patel demanded accountability from the airline for failing to issue any public statement or apology after its Boeing 747-400 freighter aborted its takeoff, overshot the runway, and sustained significant damage. The incident also reportedly damaged several runway lights, raising serious safety concerns.
In all the sorrow and din surrounding the Air India crash, there remains a surprising silence — or perhaps ignorance — about the role of a substantial shareholder, and the entity responsible for maintaining a large number, if not all, of Air India’s wide-body aircraft.

Patel drew a sharp contrast between the airline's lack of communication about the Ahmedabad crash and its swift, public response to the severe turbulence incident on flight SQ321, which resulted in a passenger's death and numerous injuries. He questioned whether the silence was because the Ahmedabad flight was a cargo plane with no passengers on board.
"The deafening silence of Singapore Airlines on this major incident is unacceptable," Patel stated, highlighting that the Ahmedabad incident could have easily turned into a major catastrophe. He emphasized that the reputation of the airport and the safety of Indian aviation are at stake.
The former minister has urged India's aviation regulator, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation into the matter. His pointed questions have put the airline under public scrutiny, demanding answers and a commitment to transparency, regardless of whether a flight carries passengers or cargo.
