Congress will be staking claim for seats on the basis of 2027 elections too

Suspense Crime, Digital Desk : Discussions and debates have started between Congress and Samajwadi Party for UP Assembly elections. The Congress is believed to be demanding 120 seats.
Discussions and debates have started between the Indian National Congress and the Samajwadi Party for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. The Congress party may be demanding 120 seats from SP and the SP would try to convince Congress to settle for 80 seats.

The Samajwadi Party and Congress would contest the 2027 assembly elections in alliance under the 'All India Alliance'. Earlier, SP and Congress contested elections together in 2017. In 2017, the SP gave 105 seats to Congress. SP and Congress candidates also fought against each other in a number of constituencies. In 2022 election, both parties contested alone and only 2 seats went to Congress, which ended second on 4 seats.

The two parties had contested elections against each other on 20 seats where their candidates did not withdraw. Congress did not win any of these seats while SP secured 2 (Gauriganj of Amethi and Unchahar of Rae Bareli). The remaining 18 seats were secured by Bharatiya Janata Party and its ally Apna Dal (Sonelal Patel).
Congress won seats in 2017
Out of 125 seats it contested, it secured seven and stood second on 50 seats. In these 7 seats where Congress won, Naresh Saini won Behat seat by defeating Mahavir Singh Rana of BJP. Masood Akhtar of Congress won Saharanpur by defeating Jagpal Singh of BSP.

Rakesh Singh of Congress won Harchandpur seat defeating Kanchan Lodhi of BJP. Aditi Singh of Congress defeated Mohammad Shahbaz Khan of SP on the Rae Bareli seat. Sohil Akhtar Ansari of Congress defeated Raghavendra Mishra of BJP in Kanpur Cantt. Aditi Singh of Congress defeated Mohammad Shahbaz Khan of SP in Rae Bareli. Sohil Akhtar Ansari of Congress defeated Raghavendra Mishra of BJP in Kanpur Cantt. Aradhana Mishra 'Mona' of Congress defeated Nagesh Pratap Singh of BJP on Rampur Khas seat. Ajay Kumar Lallu of Congress won Tamkuhi Raj seat defeating Jagdish Mishra of BJP.
Congress stood second in 49 seats

Whereas Congress was number 2 on 49 seats. These include Nakur, Gangoh, Shamli, Purkaji (SC), Badhapur, Nehtaur (SC), Chandausi (SC), Bilaspur, Sahibabad, Hapur, Mathura, Bareilly, Bareilly Cantt, Bisalpur, Tilhar, Palia, Mohammadi, Sandi (SC), Lucknow East, Bachhrawan (SC), Salon (SC), Jagdishpur (SC), Gauriganj, Govindnagar, Kidwai Nagar, Naraini (SC), Manikpur, Hussainganj, Khaga (SC), Vishwanathganj, Chail, Allahabad North, Koraon (SC), Zaidpur (SC), Nanpara, Balrampur (SC), Campierganj, Rudrapur, Jaunpur, Madihan, Varanasi North, Varanasi South, Varanasi Cantt, Madhuban, Gorakhpur Urban, Farenda, Tulsipur, Mahsi, Rath (SC).
