Suspense crime, Digital Desk : Director Ayan Mukerji is building massive anticipation for War 2, teasing that the upcoming film will be more than just an action-packed sequel—it will be a "celebration of Indian cinema." Speaking at a recent industry event, Mukerji hyped the monumental on-screen clash between two of the nation's biggest superstars, Hrithik Roshan and NTR Jr.
The film, a highly anticipated installment in the YRF Spy Universe, sees Hrithik Roshan reprising his role as the formidable agent Kabir. He will face off against a new antagonist played by NTR Jr., the globally acclaimed star of RRR. Mukerji, who takes the directorial reins from Siddharth Anand, described the project as a "true-blue cinematic spectacle" built around a powerful story.
"I have a great story to tell, and to have two of the biggest movie stars—Hrithik Roshan and NTR Jr.—in that story is a great privilege," Mukerji shared, emphasizing the unique pan-Indian casting. He explained that bringing together a top star from Bollywood and a powerhouse from Telugu cinema (Tollywood) is what makes the film a true celebration of the country's diverse film industries.
Mukerji acknowledged the immense pressure that comes with directing such a high-stakes project. "The director's chair in War 2 is not an easy one... there is a lot of responsibility," he stated. "But I think the script we have for War 2 is a great one, and I feel very proud of the film we are making."
Produced by Aditya Chopra for Yash Raj Films, War 2 is currently in production and is slated for a theatrical release on August 14, 2025, promising a high-octane collision of star power and cinematic ambition.
