A fresh political and cyber controversy has erupted in Chhattisgarh after an objectionable and abusive video targeting state leadership surfaced on social media. Acting swiftly on a formal complaint lodged by nationalist youth activists, the Raipur police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) and launched a comprehensive investigation to nab the culprits behind the digital smear campaign.
Obscene Content Shared on Instagram Targeting Top Leadership
The controversy came to light after an inflammatory video surfaced on the popular social media platform Instagram, utilizing derogatory language and obscene remarks against Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao, and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma.
Taking immediate note of the viral post, a local complainant named Virendra Dubey approached law enforcement. In his written petition submitted at the Civil Lines Police Station in Raipur, Dubey pointed out specific social media handles—including an Instagram ID named Sagar Nirmalkar and another user tagged as @quail.3131469—as being responsible for circulating the offensive material.
Threat to Social Harmony and Disrespect to Constitutional Posts
Complainant Virendra Dubey emphasized that the deliberate circulation of obscene videos is not merely an attack on individual dignity, but a calculated attempt to disrupt public peace, communal harmony, and state stability.
Highlighting the gravity of the offense, Dubey remarked:
"For some time now, the state government and senior leaders associated with the government have been systematically targeted on social media. All limits of decency are being crossed in the name of freedom of expression. Criticism is welcome in a democracy, but indecency and abusive language will not be tolerated at all. Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai is the pride of the tribal community, and his insult is an insult to the entire state."
Strict Legal Action Demanded Under IT Act
Demanding exemplary legal consequences, the complainants urged police authorities to invoke stringent provisions under the Information Technology (IT) Act and relevant sections of criminal law against the creators and distributors of the video.
Following the formal submission, local law enforcement confirmed that an FIR has been officially registered. Cyber cell units are currently tracking digital footprints, IP addresses, and account details associated with the handles to apprehend the accused individuals, while youth organizations have warned of intense statewide agitations if defamatory online campaigns persist.
