Paper leaked again in Chhattisgarh, B.Sc. Plant Pathology exam cancelled at IGKV

The series of paper leaks continues unabated. Another case of paper leak has surfaced at Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya (IGKV) in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. Due to this, it has been decided to cancel the examination of 'Plant Pathology' subject of B.Sc Agriculture first year, scheduled for August 7. Officials gave this information on Sunday. This decision was taken in an emergency meeting chaired by IGKV Vice Chancellor Dr. Girish Chandel. The meeting discussed the matter of paper leak of 'Entomology' subject of B.Sc Agriculture second year under IGKV on August 20. A professor and five students of a private college in Durg district were arrested in this case.
The official said that during the police investigation into the August 20th paper leak, the leak of the Plant Pathology paper for the first-year B.Sc. Agriculture course also came to light. Officials said that both cancelled exams will be rescheduled in the first week of September.
Background of the Legal Challenge and High Court Appeal
Community Forest Rights in Chhattisgarh grant local tribal populations and traditional forest dwellers the legal authority to protect, manage, and sustainably utilize their ancestral forestlands. The current Supreme Court petition was filed by the Hasdeo Aranya Bachao Sangharsh Samiti (HABSS) alongside six other petitioners.
The petitioners challenged a previous decision delivered on April 21 by the Chhattisgarh High Court, which had dismissed an appeal filed by the committee and local residents regarding forest rights implementation in the area.
Supreme Court Bench Directives and Mining Status
A bench presided over by Chief Justice Surya Kant, alongside Justices Jaymalya Bagchi and V. Mohan, reviewed the matter and issued notices on Monday.
During the hearing, the bench explicitly clarified that the issuance of notices on this petition will have no immediate impact on ongoing mining operations conducted by RRVUNL within its captive PEKB coal block. Judicial review and investigation into the forest rights aspects will proceed while current mining activities continue unhindered.
