In a major organizational reshuffle ahead of crucial upcoming electoral battles, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) has announced the appointment of new party in-charges and general secretaries across six key states. The strategic restructuring aims to revitalize grassroots machinery and strengthen party coordination, bringing experienced leaders to the forefront of regional campaign management.
Key Leadership Changes and State Assignments
According to the official press release issued by the party, Lohardaga Lok Sabha MP Sukhdev Bhagat has been entrusted with the crucial responsibility of serving as the new Congress in-charge for Chhattisgarh. Meanwhile, senior leader Sachin Pilot has been appointed as the General Secretary in-charge of Punjab, and former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has been given the charge of Assam.
Strategic Push for States Facing Upcoming Elections
The high-level organizational overhaul also places seasoned campaigners at the helm of vital electoral states. Randeep Singh Surjewala has been assigned additional responsibility as General Secretary in-charge for Gujarat alongside his duties in Karnataka, keeping upcoming electoral calendars in sharp focus. Additionally, Dr. Sirivella Prasad—who previously served as the co-incharge of the Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee—has earned a promotion to become the in-charge of Maharashtra in recognition of his stellar organizational track record. Rounding out the appointments, P.V. Mohan has been named the new in-charge for Andhra Pradesh as the party moves to consolidate its presence nationwide.
