Chhattisgarh Pacer Rudrapratap Selected for Mumbai Indians-Reliance Team, 140 kmph Pace in South Africa
A remarkable tale of grit, raw talent, and unwavering determination has emerged from the remote forests of Chhattisgarh to capture the national cricketing spotlight. Fast bowler Rudrapratap Dehari, hailing from the forested region of Katekalyan in the Dantewada district, has been officially selected for the prestigious Mumbai Indians-Reliance team, earning a golden opportunity to showcase his blistering pace on international pitches in South Africa.
From the Jungles of Dantewada to Elite Cricket
The journey to the upper echelons of professional cricket was far from ordinary for young Rudrapratap. Four years ago, he took a defining leap by moving from Katekalyan to Jagdalpur in search of better sporting infrastructure and training opportunities.
His raw potential was recognized at a local academy run by coach Pradeep Guha, where Rudrapratap first began practicing with standard Dukes balls. When he initially arrived, his raw pace was so striking that his coach specially acquired a speed measurement machine to track his deliveries. Clocking between 120 and 125 km/h initially, rigorous training and relentless dedication helped him scale up his bowling speed to a formidable 140 kilometers per hour.
Stellar Domestic Performances and League Success
Rudrapratap’s meteoric rise through the ranks is backed by exceptional performances across age-group and senior domestic tournaments. He consistently troubled opposing batsmen while representing state squads in the Under-19 Cooch Behar Trophy, the Vinoo Mankad Trophy, and the Under-23 CK Nayudu Trophy.
His standout bowling displays over the past two seasons caught the sharp eyes of selectors and talent scouts. Further solidifying his reputation as a lethal speedster, Rudrapratap wreaked havoc in the opposition batting line-ups during the recently concluded Chhattisgarh Premier League, where he was rightfully crowned the Best Bowler of the tournament.
Heading to South Africa With Mumbai Indians-Reliance
Prior to his selection, Rudrapratap was sharpening his skills in Karnataka while training alongside the Chhattisgarh Ranji Trophy squad. His consistent pace, discipline, and wicket-taking ability ultimately clinched his spot in the Mumbai Indians-Reliance setup.
As he prepares to fly to South Africa, the young pacer from Dantewada stands as an inspiring beacon of hope for aspiring athletes across rural India, proving that exceptional talent combined with relentless hard work can conquer any barrier.
