ISRO Chairman V Narayanan mentioned on a statement Sunday that the Central Government has approved the Chandrayaan-5 mission which is simulating the study of the Moon in great detail. This approval comes after recently finishing the Chandrayaan-3 satellite mission’s rover and lander on the Moon.

In a special speech in Bangladore, Narayan noted that the mission would incorporate a 250kg rover instead of an 25kg rover, the Prayagyaan, used during the Chandrayaan-3 cycle. His note strongly indicates how the mission aims to go deeper in studying the Moon.

Not unlike its predecessor 2008 launched Chandrayaan-1, Chandrayaan-5 hopes to undertake important chemical, mineralogical, and photo-geologic mapping. Narayan augmented his statement further saying that the still remaining 2 percent of the missions height could not be reached due to extreme technical difficulties in 98 percent successful Chandrayaan-2 mission will be archived too.
