ICC has made an official announcement regarding the Champions Trophy. According to ICC, Champions Trophy 2025 will be played in Pakistan and at a neutral venue.
ICC informed that the schedule of Champions Trophy 2025 will be announced soon. However, it has not been revealed yet in which country and at which venue the Indian team will play its matches of Champions Trophy. ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will start from February 19 but due to uncertainty over the venues, the schedule of the tournament has not been released yet. It is worth noting that eight teams will participate in this tournament, they have been divided into two groups. The top two teams from each group will reach the semi-finals.
India and Pakistan will clash at neutral venue
The ICC Board confirmed on Thursday, December 19, that matches involving India and Pakistan at ICC events hosted by either country during the 2024-2027 cycle will be played at a neutral venue. The rule will now apply to the upcoming ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 (hosted by Pakistan), which will be played in February and March 2025, as well as the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 (hosted by India) and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 (hosted by India and Sri Lanka). It was also announced that the PCB has been awarded the rights to host the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in 2028, where the neutral venue arrangement will also apply.
