Recognizing that modern electric mobility requires far more than just standard battery cells—relying heavily on critical raw materials such as aluminum, copper, nickel, zinc, silver, and ferrochrome—Vedanta is aggressively scaling its infrastructure. Rather than focusing solely on raw metal extraction, the company is deliberately shifting toward specialized, high-margin, value-added metal products engineered specifically for EV battery packs, electric motors, charging infrastructure, high-efficiency electrical cabling, and lightweight automotive components. India currently stands as the world's third-largest automobile market, and the exponential rise of electric vehicles is driving unprecedented domestic demand for energy storage systems, power electronics, and lightweight vehicle architecture. Vedanta’s diversified portfolio—spanning aluminum, zinc, silver, and copper—cushions its earnings against single-commodity downturns. Furthermore, addressing India's heavy reliance on imports for over 80 percent of its critical mineral needs, Vedanta has secured 10 critical mineral blocks encompassing copper, nickel-chromium, platinum group elements, tungsten, graphite, vanadium, rare earth elements, and potash, with active exploration already underway across five sites.
