UP Gets Its First Double-Decker Elevated Road: Greater Noida Approves Massive Infrastructure Project Connecting Meerut Expressway

In a monumental leap for urban infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh, Greater Noida is set to house the state's very first double-decker elevated road. Approved by the Greater Noida Authority and spearheaded by CEO Ravi Kumar NG, this transformative connectivity project aims to slash travel times, ease chronic traffic bottlenecks, and seamlessly link major expressways across the National Capital Region.
Route Details: Connecting Ekmurti Chowk to NH-9
The ambitious transportation corridor will span approximately 5.75 kilometers, stretching dynamically from Ekmurti Chowk to Shahberi. The engineering marvel features a three-lane double-decker elevated road designed to handle heavy commuter traffic between fast-developing residential clusters. Beyond the double-decker section, the project transitions into a six-lane single elevated road running from the Shahberi drain directly to the Meerut Expressway (NH-9), creating a frictionless transit route for motorists heading toward Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Meerut.
Project Cost and Multi-Authority Funding Model
The entire infrastructure undertaking carries an estimated price tag of Rs 1,280 crore, with the specific double-decker portion accounting for roughly Rs 756.01 crore. To fast-track execution, funding and financial responsibility will be shared equally among four major regional bodies: the Greater Noida Authority, the Noida Authority, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority, and the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA), alongside necessary administrative approvals from neighboring civic bodies.
Expanding Horizons: Linking Greater Noida to the Eastern Peripheral Expressway
Complementing the double-decker corridor, the Greater Noida Authority has greenlit another high-capacity project to integrate the city with the Eastern Peripheral Expressway. This secondary initiative involves constructing a 105-meter-wide, 12-kilometer-long 10-lane corridor equipped with four service lanes, originating near Junpat village. To successfully bridge the terrain, three major overbridges will be built across railway lines, the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor link line, and the historic GT Road. Together, these dual infrastructure projects are projected to supercharge regional real estate expansion, streamline heavy freight and commuter traffic, and solidify Greater Noida's status as a premier investment hub in northern India.
