How to Download Your Child’s Blue Aadhaar Card (Baal Aadhaar) on Your Mobile Phone

Post

Whether you are applying for school admission, setting up medical documentation, or enrolling in government welfare schemes, having your child's identification handy is essential. For children under five years of age, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) issues a specialised Blue Aadhaar card (commonly known as Baal Aadhaar).

If you don't have the physical card nearby, you can quickly download a digital copy directly onto your smartphone using three simple methods.

1. Downloading via the mAadhaar Mobile App

The official mAadhaar app allows parents to add and store their child's digital profile on their own devices.

  1. Install & Sign In:

Download the mAadhaar app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store and log in using your registered mobile number.

2. Add Child Profile:

Tap on Register My Aadhaar or Add Profile located at the top of the home screen. Set a 4-digit security PIN if prompted.

3. Enter Identification Details:

Input your child's 12-digit identification number.

4. OTP Verification:

An OTP will be sent to the parent's registered mobile number. Enter the code to verify.

5. Access Digital Profile:

Once verified, the child's profile will be linked to your app, allowing you to view, download, or share the digital e-Aadhaar card whenever needed.

2. Downloading via the Official UIDAI Web Portal

If you prefer using a web browser on your phone or computer, download the PDF version directly from the official portal:

Visit Portal: Go to the official website at myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in.

Select Download Option: Scroll down on the home screen and click Download Aadhaar.

Enter Credentials: Enter your child's 12-digit identification number or the 28-digit Enrollment ID (EID) provided on the acknowledgement slip.

Authenticate via OTP: Click Send OTP, enter the verification code sent to the parent's registered mobile number, and select Verify & Download.

Open Password-Protected PDF: The downloaded PDF card is password-protected. The password consists of the first 4 letters of the child's name in UPPERCASE followed by their 4-digit birth year (e.g., if the child's name is RAHUL born in 2021, the password is RAHU2021).

3. Fetching Digital Aadhaar via the DigiLocker App

DigiLocker provides government-recognised, digitally signed copies of official identification documents.

Log in: Open the DigiLocker app and log into your account.

Search Document: Navigate to the Search tab and type Aadhaar.

Provide Consent: Tap on Aadhaar Card from the search results and tick the consent checkbox to allow UIDAI data retrieval.

Enter Details: Input the child's name, date of birth, gender, and 12-digit identification number.

Verify & Save: Click Get Document, enter the OTP received on the registered mobile number, and the verified digital card will be permanently stored under your Issued Documents section for offline viewing.

Important Reminder for Parents:

The Blue Aadhaar card does not record biometric data (fingerprints or iris scans) at the time of initial issue for children under 5 years. However, mandatory biometric updates are required once the child turns 5 years old and again at 15 years old at an Aadhaar Seva Kendra to keep the document active.
