Gold Steady Around Rs 1.60 Lakh per 10 Grams on MCX While Silver Jumps: Check City-Wise Rates
Precious metal futures remained steady on Thursday, August 27, 2026, backed by relatively softer crude oil prices and a weaker US dollar in global markets. On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold prices held firm above the crucial psychological threshold, while silver registered a sharp upward jump at the opening bell.
MCX Gold Holds Above Rs 1.60 Lakh Amid Technical Strength
The MCX gold October 5 contract opened with a gain of Rs 836 or 0.52 per cent at Rs 1,60,499 per 10 grams, compared to its previous close of Rs 1,59,663. During the session, the yellow metal scaled higher to touch an intraday peak of Rs 1,60,898, reflecting a gain of Rs 1,235 or 0.77 per cent. Meanwhile, gold futures for December 2026 rose by Rs 267 or 0.19 per cent to trade at Rs 1,43,643 per 10 grams across a turnover of 9,569 lots. Market experts note that the broader technical structure remains intact, with prices trading comfortably above their 20, 50, 100, and 200-day exponential moving averages (EMAs). Analysts suggest immediate resistance lies in the Rs 1,62,000–1,62,500 zone, while support is anchored near Rs 1,60,000–1,59,500.
Silver Surges as International Bullion Gains Traction
Mirroring the positive momentum in gold, silver futures maturing on September 4, 2026, opened in the green. The white metal commenced the session at Rs 2,42,999 per kg, marking an impressive jump of Rs 3,361 or 1.4 per cent over its previous close of Rs 2,39,638. On the international front, COMEX gold climbed 0.18 per cent to trade around USD 4,626 per troy ounce, while spot gold hovered near USD 4,603.59 per ounce, up by USD 5.91.

Retail bullion markets across major Indian metropolitan cities reflected high valuations for both precious metals:
Delhi: 24-carat gold is priced at Rs 1,63,130 per 10 grams, while 22-carat gold stands at Rs 1,49,550 per 10 grams. Silver in the national capital is trading at Rs 2,60,000 per kg.
