Gold Jumps ₹7,770 & Silver Leaps ₹14,400 in Massive 48-Hour Price Rebound
Shoppers and retail investors gearing up for festive jewelry purchases ahead of Dhanteras and Diwali have been hit with a sudden price spike as gold and silver prices staged an aggressive rebound across domestic commodity exchanges, erasing recent price corrections. Over a narrow 48-hour trading window, bullion prices experienced massive buying momentum that added ₹7,770 per 10 grams to gold and pushed silver up by an astounding ₹14,400 per kilogram. The sharp turnaround has disrupted expectations among festive consumers planning gold and silver ornament purchases across Indian metros, while prompting analysts to re-evaluate short-term price targets heading into the peak wedding and festive buying season.
MCX Rally Breakdown: Gold Crosses ₹1,45,770 as Silver Touches ₹1,90,400
Data from the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) highlights the scale of the immediate price rally that caught markets by surprise. Gold prices, which stood at ₹1,38,000 per 10 grams on November 3, surged to ₹1,45,770 per 10 grams by November 5, registering an escalation of ₹7,770 in two sessions. Silver posted an even steeper ascent on the back of aggressive industrial and retail accumulation, moving from ₹1,76,000 per kilogram on November 3 to ₹1,90,400 per kilogram on November 5, leaving buyers paying an additional ₹14,400 per kilogram. On overseas bourses, spot gold echoed the domestic rally by climbing back toward USD 4,140 per ounce, reinforcing the international price floor.
Weaker US Dollar and Falling Crude Oil Prices Propel Precious Metals
The sudden revival in bullion demand has been driven primarily by geopolitical and macroeconomic triggers unfolding in global financial markets. Following the sweeping victory of the Democratic Party in the US midterm elections, the US dollar encountered downward pressure across major foreign currency pairs. A softening dollar made dollar-denominated bullion significantly more attractive for foreign buyers, directly lifting spot gold across global bourses. Simultaneously, a sharp downward correction in Brent crude oil prices eased broader market anxiety surrounding sticky global inflation and economic volatility, creating an ideal liquidity environment for institutional and retail capital to rotate into physical and paper gold and silver assets.
Expert Advisory for Dhanteras & Diwali: Avoid Rash FOMO, Stay Disciplined
With festive sentiment running high ahead of Dhanteras and Diwali, financial advisors are urging retail buyers and market participants to avoid impulsive investment moves triggered by sudden market surges. Mukesh Pandey, Founder and Managing Director of Rupyaapaisa, emphasized the need for calculated asset allocation over emotional festive purchases: "While festive sentiment may give rise to investment opportunities, it is equally important to have an assessment of valuations, experiment with diversified portfolios and exercise restraint against making rash investments due to hype in the market. Investors should maintain discipline in their investment approach and connect their investments with their financial goals."
