Gold and Silver Prices Crash: Precious Metals Witness Massive Drop of Up to Rs 4,400 as Markets Open

Post

Precious metal investors witnessed a sudden and substantial downturn as gold and silver prices registered a sharp decline right at the market opening on September 11. Tracking weak international trends, domestic bullion prices experienced a severe correction across the board. On the Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold prices tumbled by over Rs 1,400 to trade near Rs 1,50,895 per 10 grams, while silver suffered an even steeper plunge, crashing by more than Rs 3,550 to drop near the Rs 2,30,549 per kilogram mark. The sudden dip has brought temporary relief to retail buyers looking to purchase physical gold and silver amidst a volatile commodities landscape.

International Comex Market Trends Drive Downward Pressure

The downward spiral in domestic rates was heavily influenced by profit-booking and weak sentiment in the global Comex market. According to international exchange data, gold fell by 1.38 percent to trade at $4,346.40 per ounce, while industrial and precious white metal silver suffered a steeper loss of 2.07 percent, hovering around $63.858 per ounce. Analysts note that global macroeconomic shifts and fluctuating currency valuations have added significant volatility to bullion assets, triggering immediate sell-offs across international trading desks.

Current Retail Rates for 24-Carat, 22-Carat, and 18-Carat Gold

Following the sharp opening correction, retail bullion rates across various purities in the Indian market adjusted downwards. High-purity 24-carat gold is currently trading around Rs 1,51,490 per 10 grams, while 22-carat gold is valued near Rs 1,38,866 per 10 grams. Additionally, 18-carat gold is trending around Rs 1,13,618 per 10 grams, and physical silver in domestic markets is retailing close to Rs 2,30,650 per kilogram. Market experts advise investors to monitor global cues closely as bullion prices continue to exhibit high daily fluctuations.
