Demonstrating its aggressive commitment to sustainable public transit, automotive giant Tata Motors has announced a strategic expansion within the electric vehicle ecosystem. Through its wholly-owned subsidiary, TML Smart City Mobility Solutions, the company has acquired a 26% equity stake in Hyderabad-based Mateshwari e-Smart Mobility for a total cash consideration of ₹2.6 lakh, positioning itself for broader participation in regional e-mobility tenders.

Acquiring 26,000 Equity Shares to Scale EV Operations

According to regulatory filings submitted by Tata Motors, the financial transaction was officially finalized on September 28:

Share Allocation: TML Smart City Mobility Solutions purchased 26,000 equity shares of Mateshwari E-Smart Mobility at a face value of ₹10 per share.

Corporate Structure: Incorporated on August 11, 2026, with an authorized and paid-up capital of ₹10 lakh, Mateshwari E-Smart Mobility specializes in e-mobility services and has now officially become an associate company of Tata Motors.

Streamlined Execution: The acquisition was executed via a direct cash payment for equity transfer from an existing shareholder without requiring prior government or regulatory approvals.

Powering Telangana's Electric Bus Tender and Public Transit

The strategic investment is directly tied to expanding Tata Motors' footprint in public sector fleet management:

TSRTC Bus Tender: Mateshwari Urban Transport Solutions—the holding entity connected to the venture—recently secured a major tender from the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) for the comprehensive operation and maintenance of electric buses.

Aligning with Business Objectives: Tata Motors noted that participating in municipal and state transport corporation tenders through its specialized subsidiaries aligns seamlessly with its long-term corporate vision of scaling zero-emission public transit infrastructure across India.
