London: The ‘South Terminal’ of Gatwick Airport in Britain was evacuated and closed for ‘security reasons’ on Friday morning after a suspicious object was found and a team bomb disposal squad was deployed as a ‘precaution’. Gatwick is the second busiest airport in Britain after Heathrow Airport. Gatwick Airport is located about 45 kilometers south of London.

Sussex Police said in a statement, “Police were called to Gatwick Airport at 8:20 am on Friday after a suspicious prohibited object was found at the ‘South Terminal’.” According to the police, “A security cordon was put in place to ensure the safety of people, employees and other officials present at the airport. As a precaution, a team of bomb disposal squad is being deployed at the airport.”
