Suspense crime, Digital Desk : India is launching extensive mock drills across four key border states – Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Jammu & Kashmir – to significantly bolster its security preparedness. This move comes days after a series of terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir and is being presented as a practical follow-up to the government's assertive "Operation Sindoor" posture against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism.
The core objective of these exercises is to meticulously test and enhance the joint operational capabilities of various security agencies. This includes state police forces, paramilitary units, the Indian Army, and intelligence networks, focusing on seamless coordination, rapid response protocols, and effective counter-terrorism tactics to neutralize threats and prevent cross-border infiltration.
The heightened security measures are a direct response to recent terrorist incidents in the Reasi, Kathua, and Doda districts of Jammu and Kashmir. These attacks have amplified concerns about the security situation and the persistent threat from extremist groups operating in the region.
While "Operation Sindoor" is understood more as a political term symbolizing India's strong anti-terror resolve, particularly against threats perceived to originate from Pakistan, these mock drills are being framed as a tangible demonstration of that commitment. They aim to showcase readiness and the capacity for decisive action, aligning with the narrative of proactively countering terrorism.
Through these comprehensive simulations, which will involve various hypothetical threat scenarios, India seeks to fortify its border defenses, ensure swift and effective countermeasures against any future terror plots, and send a clear message of vigilance and strength. The drills are designed to identify any potential gaps in the security apparatus and refine standard operating procedures for a more robust defence.
